This 'new' family carers policy is still discriminatory. It does not allow payment to spouses and partners. It has been cobbled together by ignorant people with no real working knowledge of the disability sector and even less knowledge of the realities of living with a disability under MoH.
The past year has seen the Ministry of Health plumb new depths in their usual contemptuous attitude towards disabled and their families.

And yet...they saw fit to allow the Joslins to neglect, abuse and exploit the residents of Parklands for twelve years.

The message here from the Minister of Health is clear. Take this crappy deal folks...or send your loved ones to a Parklands type facility, which we will fund at at least twice the rate.

Lawless is embarrassing to anyone who wants to make pots of money at someone else's expense, be it Key and Jackson and Hellywood or saving life which is probably more intelligent than humans.

Why more intelligent than humans - we have a government that legislates to sell off our assets to themselves and the people they gave huge tax cuts to. So far the NZ humans have voted them in twice.

Funny, I thought marriage was evolving and becoming more about love than business. This legislation enhances that evolution.
In fact, this new legislation increases the numbers who want to be married. So why the issue?

As for some men and some women not having children because some men marry men and some women marry women - given the alarming population figures on this planet, what's not to like.

I imagine the war mongers won't be pleased for a start; they always need cannon fodder in this 'nasty, brutish and short' world our leaders, including John Key, are inexorably leading us towards because of greed for profits which war brings.

Perhaps some NZers want to return to those charming days when your wife was a chattel and you could legally rape her within that marriage until about 1986 when Labour made rape within marriage illegal. I expect some men would like that right back.

Evolution is a nasty word to some people.

That's when marriage as created especially for men really was a dirty word, and was less about love and more about property and control.

Nouveau Marriage aka love can only improve our world.

Hi,
I do not understand why the New Zealand requirement for the "Other Spatial Scientist" only consider the Bachelor Degree in Geography or Computer Science. Also the post-qualification only involve GIS application.
I've got my bachelor in Photogrammetry, post-graduated in Remote Sensing and also work in Remote Sensing Application for such as long time (more than 10 years). Could I be classified as "Other Spatial Scientist" in New Zealand.
Regards,
Oldman

I have been married to my husband for 46 years and feel strongly against the new marriage act which the Government is looking at passing. Both myself and my husband willnot be voting for National ever again if this is passed. A marriage in our belief is only between a male and female so why make changes to suit a minority group.

I disagree with any change to the marriage laws. Not on any religious grounds but from a moral view point. A man and a woman can continue the existence of our human race therefore any other connections are not ethical and do not require the change of a long standing law that unites a man and a woman in matrimony. Any change I belive, will be the downfall of our very existence......

I prefer Option 1, as: (1) It appears to be the cheapest, yet feasible option. (2) It sems to be the simplest way
                                   (3) The railway does not have to be shifted

My second choice would be Option 2. Option 3 appears to be expensive and complex. There is no valid reason why the potential access road from Owens Place to Te Munga should be built. It is not a huge mileage to travel from Owens Place/Titoki Place and in my view the cost of the proposed access way is not justifiable .
