Rainbow Group, owner of PORSE and Rainbow Corner childcare centres expands its ‘More For Kids’ charity

PORSE owners’ Rrahul and Bhavini Dosshi’s commitment to Kiwi children is now formally recognised, with the expansion of their ‘More For Kids Foundation Trust’ registered charity, enabling access to more children to free pre-school education.

The Dosshis own both PORSE in-home childcare and its associated education and training arm, as well as Rainbow Corner childcare centres throughout New Zealand.

It is through the Rainbow Corner centres that the couple is “putting their money where their mouth is” by allocating 10 percent of enrolment places to those in need, a move that is costing the business more than $200,000 every year.

“We work with the local communities we operate in to identify families in need. Many are new immigrants to New Zealand who are without a support system, others may be marginalised families.

“The fact is that every child needs an education – it’s their birthright. By supporting these families with the offer of fully subsidised childcare, we also feel we are helping the wider family, especially mothers who may be struggling. Many of the children we offer places to are very young While, but we feel strongly that the mental health of the wider family is very important.

“It’s a service we’ve been quietly offering behind the scenes since we started in 2011 and has rapidly been in demand ever since. Now formalised, it’s our way of giving back to the communities we operate in,” says Mr Dosshi.

Mrs Dosshi says the charity’s work will expand from 2020, taking its free childcare offering to other parts of the country.
“If you can do something to help those in need, then do it. The philosophy that underpins our businesses is to demonstrate generosity and embody the kind of world you want for your children. We believe supporting parents, educators and families is the way to do this.

Also this year PORSE is celebrating 25 years in business and since 1996, its educators have cared for more than 75,000 Kiwi children.

“PORSE has offered formal ECE qualification training for the past two decades. With the recent governmental review into the home-based ECE sector, as the only provider to offer these qualification programmes online, we are well placed to meet the new Level 4 requirements.”
