It was a busy New Year’s day for the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter. The rescue helicopter was dispatched to Whakatane Hospital, where an 18-month-old baby had an obstruction in his lungs. He was flown to Starship Hospital for further treatment and assessment.

Not long after returning, the rescue helicopter was dispatched to Rotorua Hospital where a 57-year-old male had a serious medical condition that required immediate surgery. He was flown on a rapid response flight to Waikato Hospital.

On the way back from Waikato, the rescue helicopter was tasked by NZ Police Search & Rescue to drop a SAR team in the Kaimai’s to locate a woman and her dog that had got into difficulties.
