Bupa’s Ballarat Care Home was officially opened this week on 20 August by Hon Jo Goodhew in a public ceremony. The celebration was attended by community groups, residents and relatives plus representatives from the health care community.

The morning included singing performances by students from local Rangiora High, the official ribbon cutting by Hon Jo Goodhew and resident Rita Beuysen followed by cake cutting by resident Yvonne Hedges. MP for Waimakariri Hon Kate Wilkinson also addressed the group thanking Bupa for its commitment to the community.

Located on West Belt Road in Rangiora, the $11 million investment provides 80 beds to the community including 20 specialist dementia care beds.

“So far residential care beds have increased sufficiently to demand. To help us keep ahead of the game, it is great to see the 80 beds that will be available here at Ballarat Care home for older people in Canterbury”. said Hon Jo Goodhew in her address.

“Bupa are committed to providing the best care to the Canterbury region, we are delighted to be bringing this offering to older people in Rangiora” said Kim Black, Care Home Manager.

Providing care and independent living to older people in the community is a specialty of Bupa Care Services with 56 rest homes and hospitals and 26 retirement villages nationwide including six care homes in the Canterbury region.
