We are pleased to announce the launch of our Families Free From Violence campaign and our new Families Free From Violence website. This website has been created to encourage people to take responsibility for ending family violence by seeking help for their family, helping another family, or helping to end family violence in our community. The website and promotional material has been developed with the support of the Are You OK campaign.
Our website has been designed as a conduit for getting people to the services they need, so the site links with other agencies and services. These can be accessed through the “I want help” pages or through the ‘Useful phone numbers’ page.
Family violence is preventable. People choose to be violent and can choose to change, and there are services and support to make these changes. This website is designed to give people the information and means to make a difference.
To promote the website DCAFV we have developed some community resources that can be used by community groups such as a weatherproof marquee, bouncy castle and barbeques that can be used by any community, school or sports group to enhance their event. These display the website and QR code to link people to the website, and are available for a small koha to support our work. Further details and information is available on the website.
We are also hosting the following events that you may be interested in:
• Families celebrating Father’s Day 7th September at the Forsyth Barr stadium – There will be music, free food and free activities for all the family to enjoy.
• Political debate on Family Violence – Friday 5th September at 5.30pm. This will be livestreamed and further details on the website.
