The finalists in the NZ Workplace Health and Safety Awards for 2013 have been decided. The winners in each of the categories, and an overall winner, will be announced at a gala dinner at SKYCITY Convention Centre in Auckland on 29 May.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 6 May 2013
The finalists in the NZ Workplace Health and Safety Awards for 2013 have been decided. The winners in each of the categories, and an overall winner, will be announced at a gala dinner at SKYCITY Convention Centre in Auckland on 29 May.

The awards are organised by Thomson Reuters, publisher of Safeguard magazine, and proudly supported by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). The awards dinner coincides with the annual Safeguard National Health and Safety Conference.

Now in their ninth year, the awards are well established as an annual highlight for everyone involved in the prevention of injury and ill-health arising from work.

Safeguard editor Peter Bateman says that with the Pike River Royal Commission and the Independent Taskforce into Workplace Health and Safety having recently captured the headlines, it is a pleasure to acknowledge such a wide range of positive health and safety initiatives.

“There is a lot of thoughtful and innovative work going on which deserves to be more widely known. These awards play an important role in celebrating good these initiatives and sharing them with as many people as possible.”

The judging panel of five included representatives from MBIE, ACC, the NZ Council of Trade Unions, Safeguard, and the 2012 health and safety practitioner of the year.
