Variety – The Children’s Charity wants to help Kiwi kids reach their full potential in education, music, art, and sport through its Gold Heart Scholarship programme… but time is running out to apply!

Applications for Gold Heart Scholarships close on Friday 29 March. Gold Heart Scholarships provide talented Kiwi kids who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged with financial support of up to $5,000 and matches them with a leading professional or celebrity mentor to assist them. To apply children should already be proficient in their field and show passion and commitment to achieve a long-term aspirational goal.

2011/12 Gold Heart Scholarship recipient, Natasha Boon, says she is very thankful to Variety for all that has been provided for her, including guidance from mentor and acclaimed dancer Nerida Cortese.

“Being a Gold Heart Scholarship Recipient has meant the world to me. It has enabled me to help turn my dreams and goals for the future into a reality. Always remember – never give up on your dreams. With hard work, passion, love of what you do and support from people who care – ANYTHING is possible” said twelve-year-old Natasha.

With her scholarship, the Rangiora local is well on her way to becoming a world-class dancer. After returning home from a competition in Australia last month, Natasha will attend the New Zealand School of Dance for training, where she will major in contemporary dance.

Gold Heart Scholarships form part of Variety’s Future Kiwi Kids programme. The Variety Gold Heart Scholarship Programme makes up to $5,000 available per annum for up to three years to help children who are physically or financially challenged to fulfill their dreams. This could include assisting with tuition fees, personal development, coaching, and the purchase of training equipment, travel or accommodation.
