BSCITO and Careerforce merger makes progress
28 November 2012
Plans to merge industry training organisations Building Services Contractors ITO (BSCITO) and Careerforce are making good progress.
The merger has developed over several months and is now before the Minister, awaiting his approval.
BSCITO encourages skills training among New Zealand’s Cleaning and Urban Pest Management industries. Careerforce represents the health, disability, aged care and social services sectors. Both organisations have the broad goals of improving population health and wellbeing, while developing the skilled workforce.
The merger is in accordance with the Government’s aim to strengthen and simplify the industry training sector.
For both Careerforce and BSCITO, the merger is part of a growth and expansion plan.
Building Services Contractors NZ President Patrick Lee-Lo says he is delighted with the progress.
“Careerforce has a great deal of resources in terms of field staff and offices across the country,” says Patrick. “Their industry coverage is wide, and includes workers in large residential facilities, community homes and DHBs. This will hugely increase BSCITO’s representation, support and services, which is a great fit for BSC, our members and employees.”
Patrick says recent public comments made about the collapse of BSCITO are completely false and unfounded. “The merger is a positive growth opportunity and will see training in our industry grow from strength to strength.
“We look forward to working with a wider membership base and using our combined resources to enhance and expand the services we can offer.”
