At the inaugural giftEDnz national conference at the Amora Hotel in Wellington on March 30 and 31st the tables will be turned on the delegates when the students will be supporting teachers in learning about how to foster best practice for gifted students in New Zealand classrooms. On Saturday afternoon, it is the students, some as young as 4 years old, who with support from their teachers, will be leading seven interactive workshops. The students will be demonstrating to the conference delegates successful strategies for enriching and extending the learning, plus meeting the broader social and emotional needs, of gifted and talented students. Students from early childhood to secondary level will design and teach delegates approaches which will include fostering creativity, community problem solving, conceptual learning and philosophy.

“Giftedness Unfurled: Fostering Best Practices in Aotearoa New Zealand” is a two day conference for educators working and researching in the area of gifted education. Delegates will hear New Zealand and Australian speakers sharing successful strategies for meeting the needs of gifted and talented learners. The conference has a special focus on the early years of education and Maori giftedness.
