Plunket needs your support
Plunket is one of New Zealand’s most iconic organizations – as much a part of our culture as buzzy bees and pavlova! Nine out of 10 New Zealanders are ‘Plunket babies’.
Plunket has been welcomed into the homes of New Zealand families for over 100 years – giving New Zealand parents the support they need to nurture healthy, happy kiwi babies – but they continue to need our support.
Plunket’s Appeal is in full swing all over New Zealand.
“Annual Appeal is our largest national fundraising event”, says Plunket CEO Jenny Prince.
“All Plunket’s services are free to all families so we’re heavily reliant on funds raised during our Appeal.
“We cancelled our February 2011 Appeal to enable our focus to remain on supporting families in Christchurch. This had a large impact on our financial resources and programmes around the country.
“Many people, when they think of Plunket, think of our iconic Plunket nurses – but there’s much, much more to Plunket”, Jenny says.
“Our health checks are government funded, but all our other services are delivered from funds raised in the community. Services like car seat rental schemes, toy libraries, parent support groups, playgroups, child safety programmes and parenting education courses.
“All money collected locally stays locally so that we can continue to provide support to local families when they need it.”
If you can’t make it along to fundraising events in your area, you can still support Plunket’s appeal. To donate visit www.plunket.org.nz or get your very own Plunket bear to cuddle when you donate $10 or more at any BNZ store.
