Outstanding Response for Waipa Community Awards

A big thank-you to Waipa locals who have got behind their volunteers and nominated 51 groups for the TrustPower Waipa District Community Awards.

Nominations for the Awards closed on Friday 23 March. The TrustPower Waipa District Community Awards, which recognise and reward volunteers for the outstanding contribution they make to the local community, are run in conjunction with the Waipa District Council.

TrustPower Community Relations Representative Teresa Partridge says she is over the moon with the amount of nominations received and is glad that so many hard working community groups will be celebrated through this year’s TrustPower Community Awards.

“These groups are what link people together in the community; they work unpaid to provide many different benefits to those who live in the Waipa district. It is wonderful that through the TrustPower Community Awards we can thank them for this hard work and show them the appreciation they deserve,” says Mrs Partridge.

The Awards cover five categories; Heritage and Environment, Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Culture, Sport and Leisure, and Educational and Child/Youth Development. The category winners receive $500 and runners-up receive $250. The Supreme Winner will take home $1,500, a trophy, framed certificate and an all-expenses paid trip to the TrustPower National Community Awards.

The 2012 TrustPower National Community Awards are being held in the Far North in March 2013.

The Supreme Winner will also win a six month subscription to Fundraising in New Zealand magazine, New Zealand’s only monthly publication dedicated to all things fundraising.

The nominations for the TrustPower Waipa District Community Awards are currently being prepared for judging. The TrustPower Waipa District Community Awards will be announced and presented at a function on Monday 23 April, to which all nominated organisations and nominators will be invited.
