In 2008 nine year old Cassidy Megan started Purple Day to encourage people to talk about epilepsy and seizures and let others with epilepsy know that they are not alone.
Celebrated on 26 March every year, this years’ Purple Day asks the question “if you witnessed a child or adult having a seizure would you know what to do?”
In the past, families of children with epilepsy have managed the risk of seizures by sleeping in the same room as the child, allowing them to quickly respond to the seizure.
Tunstall, the world’s leading provider of assistive technology offers an epilepsy sensor that triggers an alarm that parents or carers keep with them, to quickly notify them that the child is having a seizure and needs assistance.
The epilepsy sensor monitors not only monitors seizures but also heart rate and tonic clonic shaking.
For adults living alone, the epilepsy sensor can be connected to Tunstall’s 24 hour response centre, enabling the response centre to notify a nearby family member or friend that the user may need assistance.
The Tunstall epilepsy sensor solution offers support to families and assists adults living with epilepsy to maintain their independence.
