Iconic red and black BANDS 4 HOPE wrist bands have become a universal show of support for the people of Christchurch and as the anniversary of the devastating February earthquake approaches Kiwis are urged to show their continued compassion.
As well as raising vital funds to aid the rebuilding effort, BANDS 4 HOPE offer New Zealanders around the world a tangible way to show their support for all those affected by the Christchurch earthquake. Prince William even sported a pair of BANDS 4 HOPE during his visit to the devastated city in March last year.
The BANDS 4 HOPE appeal is organised and fully funded by TelstraClear, launched immediately after the February 2011 earthquake. The company donated 200,000 black and red wristbands; they can be bought with a $5 donation – or more – and all of the money raised goes directly to the Christchurch Mayoral Earthquake Fund.
TelstraClear Chief Executive Officer Dr Allan Freeth says Christchurch is one of New Zealand’s great cities and is world-renowned for its beauty, people and heart.
“The earthquakes affected people all across the world, and especially here at home. Christchurch is our home too. We have hundreds of staff and many thousands of customers there and we’re acutely aware of the pain, suffering and loss that the earthquake damage and continuing aftershocks cause. Wearing BANDS 4 HOPE not only shows your support for the city’s people, but also raises funds that are still badly needed.”
