Seed Saving Brings Satisfaction

Discover the benefits of Seed Saving at the next FREE Daltons School of Gardening workshop in Auckland on Saturday 25th February 2012 from 2-4pm.

Seed saving is a great exercise in self sufficiency and a basic lesson in plant biology. This hands on workshop, hosted by “seed gurus” Kate Loman-Smith from King Seeds and Judy Ackery from the NZ Seed Saving Society, is a great opportunity to learn some expert advice on what types of seeds to select and how you can save them for future use.

In this practical workshop you will learn techniques on choosing the right types of plants, when to harvest the seeds, and how to clean and store seeds effectively. Seed saving is a satisfying way to complete the plant life cycle and make sure you always have your favourite varieties at hand.

Also take the opportunity to “stump the Daltons expert” with those tricky gardening questions that no one has been able to answer for you. Bring a photo or example to make identification easier. The Daltons team has comprehensive knowledge on all aspects of horticulture, but if you can stump them, you’ll win a prize!!!!

Gardeners of all levels will enjoy this workshop and it’s a chance to share ideas and meet other gardening enthusiasts.

Classes are held on the last Saturday of each month from 2-4pm at 1 Morrin Road, Mount Wellington, Auckland. For more details visit www.daltons.co.nz or call 0800 808 150.
