Crown Institute is proud to announce the winners of their 2012 high school scholarships. Congratulations to Jessica Deo from Avondale College and Sofia Gherardi from Westlake Girls High School.

Crown Institute’s aim for 2012 was to help students with some of the extra costs involved in studying at a tertiary level. Jessica and Sofia have received $1,000 each to put towards their transport and living costs while studying at Crown Institute.

“This is an added bonus. Travel costs are so expensive nowadays and receiving this scholarship makes me want to work that much harder,” says Sofia.

Jessica and Sofia are both studying the Crown Certificate in International Travel, Tourism and Airline Studies course. They both loved studying Tourism at high school.

“I’ve always had a passion for travel. Working in the travel and tourism industry will allow me to meet new people and learn about new cultures,” says Jessica.

To enter the scholarship, students had to map out an itinerary for a tourist visiting New Zealand for 14 days. Both Jessica and Sofia produced fantastic work. Each of their itineraries encompassed some of the great attractions and activities that New Zealand has to offer.

Sofia and Jessica have their sights set high and aim to work hard to achieve their goals; Crown Institute will support them all the way.

“Crown is awesome! I love the environment and it’s so welcoming,” say Sofia.

Crown Institute has travel, tourism and hospitality courses starting 26 March 2012 and the New Zealand Diploma in Business course starting 16 April 2012. Visit their website for more details http://www.crown.ac.nz or phone 0800 357 316.
