Christies’ Law goes digital

A law reform campaign set to launch in Auckland on Monday has gone digital with the organisers utilizing social media to raise the profile of their cause.

Christies’ Law, named after the tragic death of Christie Marceau, has established a web-site www.christieslaw.co.nz that enables people to sign up to the cause and also print out and sign the law reform petition. The site has attracted hundreds of viewers in the few hours since going on-line.

Christies’ sister Heather Marceau has also established a Facebook page “Support the launch for Christie’s law” http://www.facebook.com/events/269655729771009/ shows viewers where and when the launch of Christies’ Law takes place.

Organisers say the launch will be a peaceful ‘protest’ by law-abiding citizens aimed at highlighting shortfalls in the current law that contributed to Christie Marceau being murdered.

Organizers say the launch will be followed by a ‘walk-a-thon’ down Queen Street to Britomart where it is hoped some live entertainment will entertain and attract people to sign the law reform petition and purchase specially made ‘Christie’ T-shirts and caps.

Christies Law will launch at the Auckland High Court at 12 noon on Monday 27th February.
