Hunt begins for new talent for Flaxmere Festival
The search is on for the next amazing talent to come from Flaxmere.
The Flaxmere Planning Committee has begun the search for budding performers to audition for the third annual Flaxmere Family Festival.
Maori Television’s cheeky host of the talent show Homai Te Pakipaki, Te Hamua Nikora will join Flaxmere Councillor Henare O’Keefe as the MC’s of the event. There will be performances by local cultural groups, singers, dancers and the talented Mahia Blackmore and the Paradise band.
Flaxmere Planning Committee chairperson Kayren Hatherell says “There has been positive feedback from the community about the previous festivals and we are confident that this year will be another great experience for the whole community. There are many budding performers in our community who just need the right outlet for their talent and the festival could be the start of a bright, new career for those who make it through the auditions.”
“Anyone who is interested in auditioning to perform at the festival should contact Johnson Warner after business hours on 974 4052 before the 20th February,” Mrs Hatherell says.
Kayren Hatherell says “The festival was created following the development of the Flaxmere Community Plan which identified a need for family events and a way to showcase local talent.”
The festival is proudly supported by the Flaxmere Licensing Trust, the Lotteries Commission, Eastern and Central Community Trust, Te Puni Kokiri and Hastings District Council.
The third annual Flaxmere Family Festival will be held at Flaxmere College, Henderson Rd, on Saturday 10th March between 10am to 3pm.
