Wellington Police, with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad, have located two of the three men wanted in connection to some serious assaults in the city in August.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard of the Wellington CIB says 26 year old gang member Dean Wilson and 26 year old gang prospect Lausii Taualupe were located at a Lonsdale Crescent address in Rongotai around 2pm this afternoon.

“Two other men, aged 18 and 22 years, were also arrested at the address for breach of bail.”

D/S/S Howard says a large number of police hours have been spent over the past couple of weeks to locate these offenders, given the risk they posed to the community.

Dean Wilson faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and Lausii Taualupe faces a charge of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, in relation to a serious assault in Courtenay Place on 25 August, where a 19 year old was knocked unconscious, as well as two other serious assaults on 28 August.

All four men arrested today are also jointly charged with participating in an organised criminal group and will appear in the Wellington District Court tomorrow.

“We are still actively seeking gang prospect 19 year old Samuel Gray and would like to hear from anyone who has any information as to his whereabouts. He should not be approached. Anyone with any information should phone Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
