Celebrities will join a total of 200 young people with disabilities who will perform in high profile shows during November in three New Zealand centres. Arguably the largest season of shows of its kind to be staged in New Zealand, the StarJam “All You Need Is Love” shows, will be held in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington.
In the Wellington version of the show playing on 11th November at St James Theatre, the cast will include the Vector Wellington Orchestra, Ray Woolf and Arrun Soma. The Auckland version will have the largest cast with 100 StarJam children (known as Jammers) performing in the production that will also include exclusive footage of Tom Cruise, Danny DeVito and Julie Andrews interviewed by StarJam children. This show is at TelstraClear Event Centre on 19th November. The Hamilton show on 26th November at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts will be hosted by Ray Woolf and include performances by Ben Lummis and Luke Thompson.
For 100 of the Jammers this will be their first performance in a live professional show. StarJam CEO and Founder Julie Bartlett has produced and directed twelve similar shows since StarJam started in 2002. “The kids always exceed our expectations and often their own, but it’s the audience members who feel it most. They often say things like ‘well, seeing the courage of those kids on stage makes me think ‘am I giving life my best shot’?” says Bartlett Tickets are available from Ticketek for the shows in Wellington and Hamilton and from Ticket Direct for the Auckland show and range from $10 to $60. Proceeds from all shows go directly to StarJam.
