Olly Te Ua has been appointed Hamilton City Council’s new Organisational Development General Manager.
Olly, who starts in the position at the end of January, is presently Council’s Community Development Unit Manager. He brings with him a range of front line experience from his six years at Council and previously at the Ministry of Social Development and Ministry of Maori Development.
He has served as a Recruiting Officer in the New Zealand Army and is a current serving Officer in the New Zealand Army Reserve completing two operational tours, one to Kabul, Afghanistan in 2009 and East Timor in 2002.
He will oversee Council’s Human Resources and Information Services teams, bringing with it responsibility for organisational development, safety and wellbeing, change management, and quality improvement across Council. Immediate areas of focus are the implementation of an organisational development strategy, leading the next phases of Information Services’ Project Phoenix, and determining the organisation’s future approach to quality and innovation.
Ahead of going on leave, Chief Executive Barry Harris said: “I am pleased to welcome Olly to this position and to the Senior Leadership Team, and I know he brings with him strong leadership, management and organisational skills which will be invaluable in the development of our organisation.”
Commenting Olly Te Ua says: “I’m excited by this new challenge and am looking forward to working with our talented staff across all areas of the organisation.
“There’s plenty to be done to realise our vision of being a smart city in all that we do, and I look forward to playing my part to make that happen, for the benefit of the city and its ratepayers.”
With the recent announcement of the appointment of Jason Dawson as Council’s Customer Relationships General Manager, Council now has one further appointment to make to the Events and Economic Development General Manager position.
