On the 7th of December hundreds of people dressed in Santa suits will take to the streets in Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin for the KidsCan ‘Great New Zealand Santa Run’ supported by The Athletes Foot, Mizuno, The Mad Butcher and More FM.

People of all ages, including a number of celebrities will be dressed in full Santa regalia for the 2-3km run/walk which will benefit New Zealand children living in poverty. Last year’s event raised $10,000 for KidsCan and the goal this year is to double that figure to $20,000.

Shaun Collins from Lactic Turkey Events said “This year we have a big goal of 1,500 Santa’s: “This is a great family event for people of all ages and levels of fitness. Last year we had groups of work mates running and we would love to see more of them this year so we have introduced a special rate of $250 for a team of ten which is ideal for businesses.”

The KidsCan Charitable Trust is encouraging businesses, individuals, families and groups of friends to get behind the event. Participants can run it, walk it, skip it, hop it – finish it however they like, as long as they do it in the official five piece suit which is included with the adult registration fee.

Prizes will be awarded to male and female winners along with the best dressed male, female, child and best all round corporate team at each event location. Every participant will also receive their own goodie bag.

KidsCan CEO Julie Helson says “The event is a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit with friends, family or work colleagues whilst raising funds for a great cause.”
