Whitireia in Kāpiti will be moving to a new temporary location in Paraparaumu while they await the completion of the redeveloped campus on the corner of Kapiti Road and Milne Drive.Whitireia on the move

Whitireia in Kāpiti will be moving to a new temporary location in Paraparaumu while they await the completion of the redeveloped campus on the corner of Kapiti Road and Milne Drive.

Kapiti District Council is taking over the old Lindale campus and will move in shortly while their existing Council buildings go through a planned refurbishment. There will be a period from the time Whitireia need to leave Lindale for the Council, until the new campus is ready. “We need to maintain our presence in Kapiti during this time” said Damien Banks, Business Development Management. “Whitireia will be opening an Information and Enrolment Centre in Coastlands Mall and will be operating from this location from the 12 December 2011.”

The Information and Enrolment Centre in Coastlands will be open seven days a week. Staff will be on hand five of these days to answer questions on Whitireia, the campus and programmes on offer at Whitireia in Kāpiti. Student enrolments can be made at this centre also.

A range of programmes will be offered in at the new campus in Kapiti in 2012. These include: Diploma in Outdoor Adventure, Certificate in Outdoor Adventure, Certificate in Professional Cookery, Certificate in Office Administration and Computing (Intermediate), Certificate in Office Administration and Computing (Introductory), Certificate in Beauty and Hairdressing and the Certificate in Foundation Education (Health Science). Also offered in Kapiti are the Certificate in Aviation and the Certificate in Practical Photography and the Advanced Certificate in Photography. A range of Youth Guarantee programmes will also be on offer to school leavers between 16-17 years of age.

The centre in Coastlands will be set up with information on all of these programmes along with information on the redeveloped Kāpiti campus.

The new campus redevelopment is on track with a planned official opening and the first intake of students, for February 2012. It will be a state of the art contemporary, attractive learning environment. It will be fresh and fit the local landscape well. Signage has now been installed on the new campus – setting the scene that Whitireia are in Kapiti to stay!
